Voices for peace

“We need a new paradigm that is based on a holistic understanding of peace and security. By connecting peace to sustainable development and social justice we can transform the root causes of conflict and build a more peaceful world”. – The 50 Percent Team

CO-CREATING A PEACEBUILDING PARADIGM WITH YOUNG PEOPLE

Our vision for youth-led peacebuilding

We seek to equip young people with the skills, knowledge and support needed to become transformative peace builders within their communities.

By prioritising personal, social and practical development, we believe young people can lead the way towards sustainable peace, resilience and social cohesion.

OUR GOALS

Through this programme, we envision a future where young people are:

  • Lead peace initiatives in their communities with confidence and integrity.
  • Build interconnected and resilient social networks capable of withstanding challenges and fostering sustainable peace.
  • Serve as role models, inspiring others to embrace peace, justice and social responsibility.

KEY ELEMENTS OF OUR APPROACH

Education for peace
Through training in dialogue facilitation, young people develop the skills needed to address conflict constructively, encouraging understanding and cooperation. This approach fosters a culture of dialogue, replacing aggression and misunderstanding with empathy and mutual respect.

    Community cohesion
Equipped with these skills, young people strengthen a sense of belonging and shared purpose within their communities, helping to create environments that support peace and social harmony.

Storytelling as a tool for peace
Through the power of storytelling, young people promote positive narratives, share diverse perspectives and contribute to a culture that values peace, inclusion and justice. Storytelling enables them to highlight the real issues affecting their communities and to advocate for change in a meaningful and impactful way.
